HE was surprise to hear this... but he just nodded and begun to rub his chin. He let out a sighed and shook his head placing both hands on his waist and listen to the two men converting with one another. As he listened in, it click! This strange man 'Professor' had to be the captain or something of importance for them to care and listen to him. But then... it all fell back into confusion. Why was he ignoring all his questions he thought. What is his states here? No rank? What does that mean? So many questions rushed from his head and this 'Professor' felt no need to answer the few he ask. But why? What was so secretive?! This only began to frustrate him even more when he thought about it... what was this guys deal? What was he trying to hide?! The questions he ask himself became more and more similar to his last! His mind was going in circles and he growled at this.
This man 'Quarter' look very intimidating, where did this man come from and who was he? Was his name really 'Quarter' or was it his rank? He shook his head and look at him and study him more carefully. If the Professor had no rank did everyone else fall in that category? What was everyone's deal?! This time the questions become not just one person but multiple. What was this ship's problem?! This placed seemed organize but unorganized all at the same time... that's when his O.C.D began to kick in.... but how could he fix it? How could he organize this ship?! What could he do?! He shook his head even more trying to get away from all these questions but they kept appearing in his head! It was beginning to anger him. He took in a deep breath and let it out slowly trying to calm himself...
By this time the Professor was looking at him, and his eye began to twitch as anyone could tell he was frustrated and getting angry over something. The name... the ships name... 'The Looking Glass' Why did it sound so familiar? He sighed. "Oh boy here I go again..." He said in a mumble stating that the questions were coming back all this ship did was make him confuse and he begin to feel that he was losing his mind. He continue to listen to what the Professor had to say, as the man pointed towards the other. He look towards him and nodded to what the Professor was saying. At this time he heard the Professor asked him a question. He look to him "Siegfried War Flamberg... sir..." After watching the Professor return to work he let out a sighed knowing this whole situation was out of whack and that he would get answers someway... somehow...
He look towards 'Quarter' and he tilted his head and closed one eye as the other looking at him. "So big guy, your the guy who's giving me my chores and wages ay? So lets hear them." He smirk a little bit and remember a old book he had read about the sky sailors and some adventures they had. He did enjoy the nice breeze that was coming from this and for the first time he felt free and that he could do anything and this put his mind at ease... his next questions for himself was what would happen next! What great adventures called upon him. and then... he thought of his sister... he only hope she was alright, and that she would not miss him terribly. He begin to smile to maybe he was catching on about this ship... but this only excited him even more!~

"You can call me Jin off duty. Your chores are to do what needs to be done like any other aboard this vessel. If something needs to be cleaned, mended, moved, the nearest man will be charged with it task. If you don't work your share you don't eat, you don't get paid. Your pay will depend on how long your with the crew, your salary is figured by your work, to time, to value of what is on board at the given time. So, we have nothing you get nothing, we have a fortune you leave with a percentage. If the captain likes you, you earn more privileges then the others which means you know more then the rest of us. Shall we get you some dry clothing then?" No uniforms, no set wages, possibly ranks where needed for authority sake? Not exactly a full explanation but maybe Jin only knew so much? "Dinner is usually an affair that happens twice, you will attend your meal pending on your shift. Crew are only served one meal a day. Watches are round the clock so the sooner your report the sooner you get off." Quarter was walking now in the direction of the enclosed portion of the ship, opposite of the control car. Behind him a few men remained scrubbing the decks dry from the rain and re-oiling the elaborate wooden rails.
Over head their was a man climbing the nets to examine the air bag for any potential damage taken in the storm, as well as examining the rope work.
While every one was moving purposefully about the deck, the Professor moved slowly, carefully, limping on one side toward the control compartments of the ship. From the door in front of Quarter, the boy Sulk, dressed in his tea died ruffled under skirts came rushing out past the pair and toward the man trying to avoid the attention of everyone on deck. "Professor...please, at least let me help...."
"Do not TOUCH me, Sulk." The Professor said working his way still across the deck. "I'm fine....go help Quarter, give Siegfried the tour...Put him in the room adjoined mine."
Sulk wrung his hands a moment, "....But..."
The Professor paused sighing. "Sulk, please."
"Oh...um...yes sir...Right away...where should we...move your work?"
His head turned to look at Sulk a moment contemplating but silent.
"Oh...right of course...I'll put...er...I'll move everything to your room. Silly me." Sulk stuttered backing away a moment.

Siegfried understood what the man Jin was saying. He was alright with this and he began to follow him cautiously. He put both hands in his pocket and looks towards Jin. "So hey big guy... tell me about this Professor... does he have a name besides the Professor? Is he captain?" He had many questions for in and it was a worth of shot asking him questions then the Professor himself. "Does this ship have ranks?" He twirled around giving the ship another quick look as he look back to in. "Was the professor the original captain of the ship?" He was going to ask another question and then he heard the boy talking to Professor and as they continue to walk he tried to listen in as much as he could.
Hearing the Professor scold the poor lad, being plight, and then giving him orders... This was strange to him... what was the relationship between the two of them... it seemed out of place for this 'Professor' character. strange indeed he thought. He then look towards in once more. "Hey big guy, got another for you... Whats the relations between that lad and Professor... he seems to treat him a bit different then the rest of the crew." He began to think about it more... and then he felt a strong gust of wind brush against him and he felt even more cold then normal... and it finally click in his head. He was still wearing wet clothes! How could he forget that? He laughed at himself over this. It was simple why he forgot, because of all the questions that hes been asking, and the questions in his head.
As he thought on, he wonder what would happen next what could come from all this, will his questions about himself be finally answer? Only time would tell... His stomach begin to growl as he forgot how much time passed since he last ate and he sighed. "Damn... Now I'm hungry..." He shook his head. He wished for his sisters home cook meal, and he remember how delicious it was... his mouth began to water as he wipe his lips. "Oh boy..." He thought to himself as he then shook his head. He knew it was not a good thing to think about at the moment he did not wish to get home sick at all at this point... especially when he has not even gotten so far in his adventures. He nodded to himself and decided to ignore the sound of his belly. As he wanted to know what was going to happen next. "Hey big guy... where is our next destination?" This was a good questions indeed in his mind and he only hope in would answer it... He at least wanted to know where...

Jin could only laugh at the rush of questions, they were to be expected. "Yes, that man is the captain of this ship, he is not the first captain, but he is the one who resurrected this ship and re-crewed it. His name is Malici Faustus Drosselmyier. We offer limited rank here, their are common crew, and specialty crew. I am Quarter Master, I keep order, issue the captain's law, issue supplies, report inventory to the captain and the usual condition of the ship. Their are engineers repair the ship engines, we have a cook, and a master helms man who steers the ship when the captain can not. Their is also a medic...not much else I'm afraid. We use to have a airman but he left a few stops ago for better prospects." Sulk ran by now muttering, "Getting the room ready Quarter sir." Jin fallowed after the youth motioning Siegfried to fallow. "Sulk...Is more of a stow away/cabin boy...He's really not much use for anything so we don't pay him anything, and we actually threw him off ship four different times before the Professor just let him stay. Nice enough kid, only listens to the Professor usually." Through the door into the ship interior he found simple gas lamps, the supply being fed through the hallway through long brass tubes. Their were no open ports here meaning their were other halls on either side of them leading to other places aboard the ship? To the right their was the kitchen, to the left the battle equipment. Behind these their was a bridge leading back towards the engine rooms, and a stair case that went below to the crew quarters and below that to the supplies and storage. Their were showers on the ship but these were shared by the crew, and they did not pump water through them so much as a clean and slightly abrasive powder like substance that you dusted off your skin when you were done. Quarter explained that this was because all the water was needed for the engine room and the condensed power weighed less anyway so they could carry much more of it. Their were lockers in the shower room each with name plates on them and no locks. Quarter told him he could pick any locker not in use to store his shower supplies in after they were issued. The whole tour was really a walk through, he wasn't taken into the engine rooms at all, with the instruction to more or less avoid the area if at all possible, dangerous if you weren't familiar with its workings, though he was only given a glance of the storage of the ship while Jin found him some dry clothing that would fit him. Two pair of dark trousers that would have to be kept tied or they might fall off, a rather thread bare shirt with a ruffle on the front, two plain shirts with unfinished sleeves and a frock coat in a odd grey color, the socks were tube like and might have fit anyone at all, a pair of slightly large goggles with chain over the nose and a strap to tie around his head, a canvas bag with a towel in it and some strange cloth that produced a slick lotion like gel when rubbed against itself for cleaning. "Have to wait to get you more I'm afraid we weren't expecting new crew. You might want to see if any one has a spare scarf or handkerchief for you to tie over your face while on deck, the winds can get pretty chill and without a mask your throat will get dry fast and your lips will crack or get frost bite in the thin air."
He was leading Siegfried deeper past the storage and back towards the front of the ship though from the bottom, some where above them should be the control car....ahead of him stood a very elegant looking door and to the right of it another larger room covered in silk scarfs, drifting out was the faint scent of exotic incense, on the left Sulk was found fussing over a bed with a rather nice set of cream sheets and a brown and violet red fur blanket.

Siegfried was very shock to what he saw. He look around with a huge smile, to see some of the structure left him in complete awe. He only had seen these things in books. He was though very grateful for the Quarter Master answering all his questions this put him at ease. He felt a little more at ease and his head stop spinning. As he look around he paid very close attention, he remember somethings he read in books. He approved to what he saw, and what Jin told him though he was disappointed about the showers but he understood why. But he started to get curious about the Engine room now. He tried not to think to hard about the subject knowing he might not want to know why. A engine that needed all that water kinda spook him a little and he shook his head. "Don't think about it, and it will be alright." He thought to himself trying to calm himself if any. Once they arrived at the storage room he look around and nodded his head in approval. Before he could truly examine the storage room he was handed clothes and was shown to the lockers. He smiled to in and nodded. "Thanks big guy. Ill take this one." He pointed a random empty one. As he removed his clothes and slip on some of the new ones he was going to wear. He look at himself. "Whoa, what a major change... Weird..." He laughed and shrug. "But I like it." He nodded once more. He look to Jin. "Hey big guy... thanks... I appreciate it." He nods his head to him in respect. He look to the locker and rub his head. He was not use to all this talking he's been doing since he arrived at the Inn. He sighed and look down.
He heard in begin to walk off as his eyes widen and ran to him to catch up. As he followed him he look around as he notice they were going deeper and deeper inside the ship. He was a bit worried as he walk further with him. He stayed close behind remaining cautious as he focus what was in front of him. He was hoping he could calm down after this was all over he hated holding his guard. He like to be more laid back and relax then having to worry if someone was going to stab him in the back. He shook his head trying to calm himself. "Easy Siegfried... Nothing to worry about." He said to himself in a low whisper as he walk on. Once they came across this elegant room stood there for a second. "Freaky..." He said out loud not thinking.
He notice Sulk as he walk over to him seeing what the poor lad was doing. "Hey kid need any help with whatever your doing?" He wanted to help the lad if he could. He was curious about these rooms and wonder where the control car was. This was strange and it gave him a tad bit of goose bumps just thinking about it... then the name 'The Looking Glass' pop in his head again and he growled a tad. "Where did I hear that name?" he thought to himself only to lead to more questions and more confusion. The name had meaning... but what? This ship was confusing plain in simple. He could at least thank the fact it was at least organize... This put him more at ease, but he swore he would solve this... He was going to find out what the name meant and where it originally came from. If one had bad memory this ship could be very easy to get lost in... he was thankful he had good memory... well so he hope, if he had such perfect memory he could figure out everything else that is locked in his memory. He tried to focus on the matter at hand. This was more important for now.

"ER....Making your bed." Sulk offered holding up the fur skin blanket. "The Quarter's room is just across the hall...an the ...Ca..Professor's rooms are in front." Silk curtsied a little bit.
Jin arched both brows. "The ship's name?...Comes from some book, I'm not familiar with. The Professor says it use to be a transport for some project...but he won't say what." The large man shrugged. "I'll get a name plate made for your locker, you can keep your personal effects in here. The toilet's there far side of the wall, pull it out of the wall do your business and close it up, the ship will pump it all off for processing in the engine rooms." He pulled the rope handle on what had looked like a laundry shoot drop and out slid a slanted cube with a hinged toilet seat. He closed this back up tightly afterwards and a slush of suction fallowed and then fell silent. "I've got to get back to work...so I'll see you around when your ready to start? Watch is only a four hour shift so everyone gets a turn, if you need a watch...well you'll have to talk to the Professor."
In the control car the Professor had at last re-leaved the helmsman. "Glad to see you again sir, gives me the shakes to take it out in that weather." "A necessary extreme, the windows do not give enough perspective to take all sides and obstacles into account." "Yet you won't go for a regal air zeppelin with its full glass front?" "I like the Glass...." The Professor offered dully. "You may go now." "Sir" The man saluted and hobbled form the car without further observation. He knew this man, their captain, did not desire his company at this time and it was better to leave him be when in these moods then rouse his anger. Only when the helmsman had left did the Professor shift his wight off his soar ankle kneeling before the wheel of the ship and slowly, peeling the leather glove from one hand so he could rub the feeling into the bruised palm. It was this action, Only this simple motion that made him realize the pain in his shoulder, a choked sound in the back of his throat as he pulled the glove back on and brought the hand slowly to the front of his collar bone just under the collar of his shirt, right by his neck. He'd shifted the bones holding Siegfried's wight. The kid had heart...hopefully more then some of the other crew, he'd lost six in the last four days....he had brought on two to replace them, they were getting down bare. He would need at least six to crew the ship. He pulled the collar of his shirt carefully straight, pulling his coat neat with one hand and then returning both hands to the helm, though still kneeling, his body shaking from the exertions thus far, he let his head rest a moment against the wooden frame of the wheel. This high there was little they could run afoul of but another ship, and their would be warning by whistle or call if anything came into view of the men on any decks. He hurt...but he had to keep going, their might yet be an answer in the aether and that cloud of a storm that had crossed the island a little while ago, that burst of cold air was heading even now towards the north...He had to get their before the Aether settled to thick...his men could not breath the air of the Aether as he could. "Wait for me...just a little longer...." He whispered lifting his head once more to the windows in front and the shifting clouds in the distance beyond where the eye could see tinged in purple and red. The water from his clothing, collected in the rain of the isle during the departure was dripping slowly down his frame, gathering on the floor in a slowly spreading puddle already forgotten by him despite the growing chill in his skin.

He look towards Sulk then to the other room. "I see, so there's a lot more to the Quarter Master then what meets the eye.... besides his weird taste in decoration. But hey! Who am I to judge what a man likes... right?" He Laughs at his own comment as he smirks. He hears Jin began to speak as he faced towards him. As he answer his question... well some of it. He rub his chin. "Aye, now that sounds very familiar... Though I don't remember any book... or do I? This is all to strange... This seems something that only our Captain can answer... At least its better then nothing... right? Thank you big guy for that... that calms me a tad." He rubs his head. thinking to himself if it was that obvious it was on his mind. He let out a sighed and shook his head. When in began speak even more. and was explaining this toilet device.
Siegfried look at the toilet with a curious yet complete disgust among his face... as he shook his head slowly. "That's.... just wrong.... I'm glad to hear that the ship runs off crap!" The thought made him shiver and he just try to shrug it off. After Jin demonstrated how it work, he sighed and nodded his head towards Jin who stated to speak with him when he was ready to work. He was tired from the work he already had done early this morning, and afternoon. He was tired and hungry. Though the food would have to wait! He could not deny his body some rest. If they needed him he knew it wouldn't be any trouble for them to wake him. He nodded to himself with a smile as he walk to his bed. He look it over and sighed as he crawled into bed and finally felt relax.
He closed his eyes. "Hey kid... can you tell Jin to come wake me when he or the Professor needs me? I'm going to try and catch some Z's... Thanks kiddo..." he started to mumble as he fell fast asleep it was obvious that he was tired and was not use to all this excitement. But deep in his mind he had a lot of fun and was beginning to get excited for what the next day would bring. What would these crazy sailors bring to his front, what adventures will they bring he thought. The question kept repeating in his head. The excitement was over whelming. But his body and mind could not take anymore this afternoon.... So much had happen in such a little amount of time. But as he fallen into a deep sleep he thought to himself... how was his sister? Was she worried? Did she miss him? Should he feel guilt? Then his mind blank and the dream lord came and visited his sleep.

Sulk never really got a chance to answer, just stand a minute in uncertainty before covering the new comer with the fur blanket and moving quietly from the room. Must have been a long day for him, The next day was likely to bring a rush of new things, Better let him sleep while He can...So Sulk went to go force the engineers to take their dinner break.
The ship went about silently in this manner till it was time to re-leave the Professor from helm duty some nine and a quarter hours later. Where the helmsman found him diligently fallowing course and plotting a storms movement with the ships available temperature readings, an estimated wind velocity taken from movement of clouds, and its altitude measured in relation to the horizon with a quadrant. He was standing, but he kept most of his wight off his right side. Water still stained the floor from the accumulated puddle, though the Professors cloths seemed at least mostly dry...except the leather which was actually still pretty wet....how heavy had that rain been leaving the island?
"Sir?" The helmsman offered. "One moment....just making sure we don't cross its path." "Your still wet." The Professor didn't even pause to note the fact. He simply finished plotting. "Get one of the men to cleanup before you take helm." His skin was clammy from the chill but he didn't stop working. The helmsman left to get the mop shaking his head. Another man fallowing him back without asking, in his arms he carried a dry blanket and two large shredded woven rags to help the helmsman mop up the water. The whole thing happening like clockwork as they worked around the Professor, covering him with the blanket and mopping up the water, drying the floor, testing the boards for soft points that may need waxing or resealing. "How's your leg?" The helmsman remarked. "Cold." Answered the Professor setting aside the tools. "The new course is here." He pointed at the path. "We have....quite a few days before we reach the destination." "Weeks?" Offered the helmsman. The Professor shivered involuntarily, this not from the cold just from the thought of such a long wait. "You could work on your projects in the meanwhile, Sir." The elder offered. "Yes....of course..." Still the Professor seemed to have no life in him for this thought of waiting. "Go on sir, We'll have cooky bring your try down to your...." "No..That's not necessary...Thank you." He moved for the door letting the blanket fall from his frame, the other sailor picking it up on the way out. "Good day man." The sailor said to the helmsman on his way out. "Fair winds and sky lords bless our passage." Said the Helmsman.

Around this time Siegfried had woken up and was pulling on his boots. He made the bed almost habitually like, in a daze as he tucked the sheets and set the pillow square before he turned looking to the door, and what would await him outside it. Taking a deep breath to prepare himself before he made his way top side. All the while looking around him, admiring the decoration, and architecture of the ship's build. He approved, though to the blind eye it would likely seem less impressive, the craftsmanship lay in the small deep set details and lines...This was his thoughts when he first set his eyes on the ship. When he came near the engine room he stood for a second, peering at the bridge looking to the entrance beyond. He was curious about the engine room. He had also been given orders to work around the ship, whatever needed to get done, right? A smirk edging his lips and he snapped his finger with a smug look upon his face. "A loop hole." A chance to satisfy a curiosity that had been brushed off earlier. He walk to the engine room.
As he came near it, he he was filled with a sense of awe, for the engines themselves. Never having seeing one in person, this was so much better then the books. The steam surrounding him made it warm and his shirt stuck to his frame as he moved deeper, the copper and brass pipes like straight laid veins pulling the water through the space to the boilers, circulating and turning great coils of spring and moving giant gears. No motion was wasted all saved with coils of tensed wire to use every motion of momentum burned for other purposes about the ship. The grated walk ways showing more pipes and liens beneath, electricity arching in places across lines sealed in tubes of crystal glass. Huge towering tanks churned with water and the pumps kept a steady rhythm like the heart beat of a living thing. It was not one simple engine but in fact two separate engines interconnected that ran the ship. It made him a bit sad that some of his main facts came from books, and he realized he had never gone out much... But he shrugged it away, He was now learning from personal, hands on, experience. He looked around the corners looking for anyone. "Hello?! Anyone around here? Seeing If I can help down here." Then the thought of having to organize the crap made him shiver and have a complete disgust on his face. "Unless its the crap... then your on you own...." He nodded his head in complete approval. He would refuse nothing unless it came to the crap.
He was beginning to think, would he get in trouble for being down here? Was there punishment on this ship? What do they do if there is punishment?! He was starting to worry and he shook his head... He knew he had to remain strong and not panic. It was already to late as it was. He was still looking around the engine room. Hoping to run into someone, He could explain himself even mostly he was more curious about this engine room. Was there something he was not suppose to see? Or was it even more secretive then that?! this made him wonder even more and at the same time even more excited. He begin to smell the air... He could smell a mixture of burning things, charcoal thick and bitter tasting in his throat, wood different kinds, all mixed in creating an odd though not entirely unpleasant mix of textured scents. Oil sticky against his exposed skin in the steam filled air. He was surprise it didn't smell of burning crap. But he was happy all at the same time.

From some where below came a small and familiar voice. "Down here...The engineers are eating...You can give me a hand with this bloody water filter, the frames come loose and its won't close all the way, so the coal smoke is escaping into the air and choking the water filters with the dust!" Sulk wasn't a mechanic, but he was pretty handy with an odd assortment of tasks like refitting bent frames, sealing leaks, changing the ship filters....doing laundry. Not that any one ever took notice of these tasks. He sat now in faded pink outfit that looked like women's bloomers with a matched top over which was a taper waist mechanic apron. He was using a pair of clamps to force the bent corners down over the fabric filter and pliers to try to manipulate the frame back to shape, next to him was the slot the mesh covered thing was apparently meant to fit into, but the edges had been gnarled slightly from cramming the bent frame into the crevice.
The Professor was in the kitchen area getting dinner, he asked for an extra portion to take to Sulk as he saw that the engineers were finally out of the engine room for a break. He also grabbed an extra few slices of bread, cheese and an apple for Siegfried..Though the man might not be awake yet certainly for him the new day would take more energy then he had yet to give, he would need the extra meal, and the Professor himself hardly ate so much anyway. Still his movements were made vary slowly, careful not to place much of his wight for to long on his damaged ankle and still ignoring the injured shoulder though it was difficult to hold or grasp with the hand of this arm, it was not impossible. He still wore the brown leather gloves to cover the bruising acquired from the rope.

Siegfried heard the sound of Sulk voice coming from the lower levels of the engine room. He sighed and quickly made his way down there. As he begin to hear the sound of a struggle. He followed the noise that was coming from Sulk as he finally arrived next to him and examine what this lad was doing; Sulk was trying to bend the corner of the metal filter back in place. Since it was giving trouble when one tried to put it back once the filter was change. He could tell that Sulk needed help with this, It would take more then a child that was not use to this kind of labor. "Damn it lad, you should always make sure you have a extra pair of hands with you when dealing in these matters!" He scolded him, and shook his head.
He notice that he needed another set of pliers to hold the corners down. He looks around, and sees a set of them by Sulk's feet. He put them on the other corners of the filter and nods to Sulk. "Together now..." they both began to bend the metal to perfectly fit inside where it was suppose to go. Siegfried followed Sulk's instructions since he knew that Sulk knew what he was doing to begin with. But just needed the extra pair of hands. Once they put it back where the filter belong he look to Sulk and gave a thumbs up. "A mission well done kid!" He dusted his hands off...
He looks around, with his hands on his waist. Already sweating from being inside the engine room. "Hey kid how long have you been done here? I hope not to long." He examine the engine's and just some of the nic-nacs around them. Completely surprise and shock how much is needed to run this ship. "Hey kid, wants your main chores around here? Kinda like the sound of the engine..." It was soothing to him, he didn't know why but it was... it calmed him down and it was making him feel like he did at sea. Though nothing compare to that, He loved that more then anything. He smirk and look above him. "Wonder if I can work down here... I rather not be top-side..." He shivered, trying not to think of them flying nor the distance away from the ground. He hated heights more then anyone could truly understand.

"Ah, thanks for the help, the new frames are a lot tougher then the aluminum ones we use to use, but when they get bent out of shape its harder for me to fix it. I don't really have chores so much as I sometimes help out. I just make sure the pressure in the pipes doesn't get to high, you can hear it when it happens, change the filters for the engineers once in a while so they don't kills us all by passing out, and so they can have a break. Laundry when I get the chance. Odd ends really....I can help replace the pipe seals when they leak, but I I can't keep the pumps and engines running by my self for long. I can't feed the furnaces. To hot for me there...."Sulk picked up the tools shoving them back into the many pockets of the work apron. "The engineers just went to dinner a little bit ago, so I've only been in here maybe twenty minutes. Can't be to many people in here at the same time, gets crowded enough with the two engineers. the work gets bad because not every one does something the same way, different approaches to a problem and all but filters are easy to open up and change usually. I only found out about this one today though, wish we had gotten to it sooner, the frame is fixed but now the slots all bent, we won't be able to get that fixed till we reach a good port again." Sulk sounded knowledgeable enough to stand in here but the boy was not an engineer, so his assistance was limited. He couldn't change the feed lines for the ship lamps, or the boiler, he did know how to bleed the pressure valves in an emergency but not how to solve the problem past that. "So...What made you think their was crap down here anyway?" Sulk was moving back towards the stairs now. "The sewage tanks are on the bottom of the ship, First thing we loose actually if we scrape the bowls of the ship. Pretty thick though so we haven't had any messy clean ups...though we did have to repair the hull. The ballast tanks are on top, so if we catch fire we can gouge the ballast tank to drown the fire."
The Professor left the kitchen with his trey without so much as a word to anyone in particular though he did nod respectfully to any whom bothered to notice him as he passed. He leaned on the wall of the hallway for support, keeping his wight free of his weaker side for the time being. He was starting to sweat despite the chill in his skin, and he cursed the effort it was currently taking him to move. By the time he had walked the length of the hall to the bridge to engineering he had to stop to catch his breath. Lack of sleep, and he needed a shower....not to mention the mental strain of knowing they would now take that much longer to reach his intended destination. He needed to get back to work...needed the distraction, before the strain of absence drug him into that black abyss of thought once again. He could see it faintly in his minds eye he saw a woman falling, her blue gown crumpling under her delicate legs as the room trembled around them, the walls splitting open like some giant had torn into the building and was prying it slowly open, the sky outside obscured by a growing cloud rising ever upward, and then great parts of the building started to break away and crumble down....everything from here was silent as he felt the panic as he tried to run for the fallen woman in his thoughts and everything went black. He was still standing however, still clutching the wooden tray, though his knuckles under the leather gloves had gone white with the effort. He pushed himself away from the wall and took the slow deliberate steps onto the bridge towards the engine room, clearing the thoughts from his mind like a sieve. One foot before the other, limping on the injured side. His uneven steps echoing down into the engine room as the boots crossed the catwalk.
Sulks head snapped up at the sound of the uneven steps. "Professor?" He looked through the steam unable to see past the movements of the engine workings.

Siegfried has a shock look on his face. He was very surprise that the boy had some much knowledge about these things and as he carried on he shook his head trying to wrap his mind around it. Hey smiled at Sulk and patted his head. "Hey kid that's some wisdom you got in there. It may seem small but that's a whole lot. Wait when you get to my age you'll be telling everyone whats up and whats down. I mean damn you have me stomp... everything I know is from the books I read and so on... not really hand on experience, unless you want to know about fishing then I can go for hours. I'm pretty bro at that... Oh, and the sea I love the open sea. So much to see and the sounds that come from all around it is amazing! " He started laughing to himself... Once he heard the boy begin to ask about why he thought about there being crap down here. He look embarrassed and rub the back of his head. "well you see-" Before he could finish the kid went on talking and he just smiled and listen... He soak in all the knowledge the boy was sharing with him. He smiled at him. "See kid, your teaching me a thing or two... Thanks for the info." When the boy began walking to the stairs he followed. "Maybe I should talk to the Professor or Jin... I want to get assign down here... it be awesome to have first hand experience with these things. Then move on up and keep on learning... I love it." He nodded to himself.
He began day dreaming as Sulk went on. He imagine himself a captain of his own vessel and having sailors under him. He had thoughts of these strange yet interesting ships, ships that didn't need the oversize balloon, but had only propellers, and a strong enough engine to keep it in the sky. He thought of one that look like a sea ship instead of these airships. He imagine the weapons they would have. Day dreaming of a major battle, and the enemies being in awe of his ship and how powerful it was. As he kept on, he imagine a epic adventure where he had to fight pirates to obtain some strange crystal. How he had to fight the captain one on one. He smiled as he thought of this, and he was eager to enter a battle, and he snap out of his day dream and begin to think about the Professor. Would he know how to build such a ship? Weapons? Does he know of such things? this intrigue him, the thought of even riding him made him and gave him more excitement.
At this time, he heard Sulk say "Professor?" He shook his head and look up. "Could be, let's go check kid!" He started running up the stairs to go to the Professor. Though it made him wonder. What was the captain doing here? Was checking on something or someone? This was strange to him indeed. But he sounded if he was injured. This peak his interest... Was it his time to taste his first battle. He laughed at himself, knowing his luck was not that good. Though he wonder what it would be like to be in such a situation, he heard some patriots say at his sisters Inn that it was, and some say it was easy and very entertaining. He shook his head trying to focus on the matters at hand.
He stop in front on the Professor as he examined him. "Hey Captain, you don't look so great... Have you even slept? Or rested?" He look at the plate of food in his hand and he laughed, "Do you eat down here? That' strange... Well I guess not really... You still are wearing your wet clothes... so you may have come down here to get dry and warmed up..." He nodded to himself and thought to himself that would make sense. "Oh hey captain where can I get some of that grub?" He was still hungry as his stomach growled. He remember he wanted to ask the Professor somethings and they all blurted out. "Hey captain can I work down here? OH! You do you have any experiences in engineering, Architect, mechanics, armory, weaponry and such? If you do... I have a awesome idea you can invent!" He was excited... but he understood the type of skills you would need for such a project. But the Professor seemed trouble but he gathered that he like his solitude and secrets so... though questions stayed inside his mind.

Sulk had never even considered he might know more about an airship engine then a man from the ground....He's been born on airship after all. Raised in one of the major new cities that remained aloft in the sky at all times. To him the ground was a fairy tale only seen from the deck of an airship. "You've actually been on the water?" He didn't even know people actually still fished! He thought all the fish were dead. No time to contemplate he was fallowing up to their captain and seeing the trey he took if from the Professor.
"Come on then lets sit and eat."
The Professor fallowed his hands now free he placed one hand on the rails bordering the walk ways and fallowed at a slower pace then Sulk moved. This one's constant use of improper title a grating aggravation that he tried to overlook for the time. It was strange to have a ship with no 'Captain' but he filled the post without care for the title. He was not a captain he was a scientist. Patience he reminded himself tiredly, their were so many other things to focus on. "I just finished my shift at the helm, so I have not yet slept. Quarter told me you had already gone to rest. I thought the two of you could use some food. Though...I was a little surprised to find you here. Sulk is always tinkering if the mechanics are on break." He didn't elaborate much on his state of health. It had not crossed his mind it would be so warm here, but at least it did rid him of the chill in his flesh. He had planed to leave Sulk his meal and take some food to leave in Siegfried's room. He would make due with the situation. "If you want to learn to work in the engine rooms speak with the mechanic and engineer, I make no assignments here. People tend to find their own place on ship. I see that Quarter found you a dry change of clothing...you should ask Sulk to wash your other things for you. It keeps him out of trouble in the longer hours. " He listened to the list of questions about his experience in a number of areas wondering why in all the heavens anyone would need so much...not however that he didn't know a great deal but it was a rather broad question wasn't it? He took a seat on a work bench with a wooden table as Sulk divided the food on clean cloth napkins. Cheese sandwiches, dried pork fat crackers, sliced apples, and a broth that tasted like citrus chicken with rice. "Yes....I know about a number of those subjects." The Professor answered.
Sulk was pouring fresh water from a canteen into some short cups made of wood and glass tubes. "Here we are..." He pulled the napkins around to each person before he was seated taking a bite of his pork fat cracker before taking a deep drink of the soup. "The Professor is a Genius...he builds all sorts of amazing things."
The Professor picked up the water sipping it before he picked up a piece of fruit. "Thank you for your assessment, Sulk but let Siegfried finish his questions to make that assumption for himself."

He was surprise in fact that Sulk never saw the ocean nor the fact that were still fish. He never thought about such things. Since he always went to sea and fished every day. In his days he caught all types of different type of sea creatures and he knew how to prep and cook them all. He loved a good meal from the sea. But then again, there were hardly ever people out in sea if none at all! But once more he never thought about it because he loved the peace and quite. He always found himself at peace then he could remember. Which wasn't much... Ever since he woke up in the bed being taken care of by his sister. How long has it been since that time? The more he thought about it... he couldn't remember. This disturb him a little but he simply ignore it, it was not the time for such thoughts. "Hey kid, if you wish I could teach you how to fish! It wouldn't be a problem since I love it and it be nice having company down at sea when I'm fishing." He gave Sulk a smile. Though deep down he didn't want to think about his lost of memory. It was a touchy and a scary subject for him.
When Sulk said though words "Come on then lets sit and eat." He got excited and his eyes water. As he nodded like a child. "Let's!!!" He felt as if he hadn't ate forever! Though he knew only a couple hours but he was not use to having trouble with food since there was some all the time. He could eat whenever so this was new to him. Though he did not have a problem with this and understood their situation for the most part. Or at least he tried to... He thought about fishing for them would make life easier for them and it would bring more variety to the crew and there meals... Maybe everyone would enjoy such things like crab, shrimp, fish, squad, octopus, and other things in that nature. He was well trained in such things since it was his profession. He now knew or at least thought that this crew needed his skills!
He followed them, When he heard that the Professor has not yet slept this worried him though when he started to answer his questions a little more it made him a tad but more happy and a little more trusting. He was happy that the Professor cared about there well being and he sighed, thinking about how the Professor did not seem to really care about his own. Maybe the Professor needed more of a lecture then some of the crew. He knew it was risky but someone had to stand up. "I was tired, and I needed to catch some Z's before I started work. Which well... I'm rested and ready for some good work!" He was trying to cover everything before his lecture. "Myself? I'm curious short of a guy! I love discovering and learning new things... It's become a passion of mine... also I hate heights, and flying..." he laughed a little, feeling some what embarrassed as he rub the back of his head. He nodded as he listened to what the Professor had to say. "I'll make sure I'll do that! I think they will appreciate a extra pair of hands around here!" He let out a yawn and stretched. "Well I like Jin! I'm glad he did! I didn't want to catch a cold. So I thank him for the help!" He look to Sulk. "Sure will... You wouldn't mind would you Sulk?" he smiles to him.
As they sat down, he smiled and nodded as he was ready to eat! When the Professor answered his major questions he was a bit surprise but was very happy to hear. Though he caught that the Professor answered carefully and he understood. He was still a stranger but he look to him and smiled. "Well I got some ideas that could make this ship more advance! I think you would like to hear. Plus I forgot to mention that I have the best fishing skills! I could fish for everyone, and teach Sulk as well... you don't have to worry I know how to prep and cook these delicious sea creatures!" He look to him with a smile.
As he saw the fresh water in the cup and the food in front of him his eyes glitter. He did not hesitate he went all out and started munching on them. He loved everything, the sandwiches, crackers, apples, and the broth! He ate like he had not ate for such a long time. He never knew why he was such a big eater but he was. He loved food, as much as he loved fishing! "Thanks Sulk, and of course professor!" He said with his mouth full, he began to choke. He started to pound his chest and drink the water to make the food go down. He took a giant gulp as his face was red and he laughed in embarrassment. "I should learn how to swallow." He rub the back of his head. He heard Sulk began to talk as he finished his sentence he smiled to him. "Your very fund of the Professor, aren't you kid?" He continue to eat more slower.
He laughed and waved his hand around. "Its alrig-" He stop Mid sentence as he almost forgot to lecture the captain. He sighed and then look to the Professor in a serious matter. "Hey, Professor? You care about your crew... right? That's a stupid question... Of course you do... but do you not think that the crew cares about you? I think they have the right to make sure your alright and care for you as much you do. Pardon me for being so bold. But I think you need to consider this! I mean look at you! Your cold, and wet to the bone. you look like the walking dead and you just look terrible." He shook his head. "You need to take better care of yourself... I can tell the crew depend on you and they worry. You understand what I'm saying captain?" He tried to be gentle with him and it was the best he could do... He continue to eat his food, and drink his water.
